How to change your header and background color

Every Eden free trial comes equiped with 5 free themes.  You can easily choose which free Eden theme you want to use for your site within the "Theme" module.  Each theme is different; containing differet layouts, looks, and feels.

One of the free themes, the Light and Airy theme, allows you to change both your header and background color.  To change to the Light and Airy theme, click the "Theme" tab at the top right corner of the Eden interface, then click "Change your theme".  Then you'll click on the Light and Airy theme once and click "Choose".

After you've done that, click on the "Set Theme defaults" button in the top left corner of the interface.  This will bring you to the global theme settings area for the Light and Airy theme.  It's here where you can change the heading and background colors along with your logo, header image, and background image.  Whenever you make a change in this area, the change takes effect on every page of your site.

All you need to do is click within either of the two color fields and you'll see a color-picker wheel appear.  You can then click in the outer color ring to select the primary color and then click in the middle square to choose what shade of that color you want to use.

After you click the shade you want, you'll see a six-digit alphanumeric code appear in the field.  This is known as a hexidecimal color value.  Every color has its very own hexidecimal color value.  White is #fffffff, black is #000000.

Make sure you save your changes after you choose the color you want!

Tip:  If you do not know what the hexidecimal color value is for the color you want to use, there's a handy Firefox Add-On that you can use.  It's called Rainbow. What rainbow allows you to do is click on any pixel of your browser window and it will tell you what the hexidecimal value is for that particular color.  You can then use that value in the "Theme" module for either color field.

For example, if you want to match your header color with a color in your logo, just follow theses steps:

• upload your logo in the "Files" module.
• refresh the files module page and click on the logo image.
• click the "Download/View File" button.
• Click on the Rainbow icon in the bottom of your browser window.
• Click on the color in your logo that you want the hexidecimal value for (make sure you copy the value or write it down).
• Go back in the "Theme" module and type or paste the value in the header/background color field (make sure you include the hash tag "#" before the value).
• Save your changes!
