Press Release: Preation Ensures Client Website Compatibility with New Internet Explorer 7.0
With the new version of the Internet Explorer browser soon to be released, there is concern about compatibility with some websites.
Durham, NC - Preation, a leading provider of website services including web design, web development, and web marketing, proactively audited over 10,000 pages of its clients’ websites, in advance of the Internet Explorer 7.0 release expected this month, to prepare clients for the transition.
The newest version of Microsoft’s web browser, Internet Explorer 7, is here and will soon reach a large portion of Internet users at home and at work. Although many of the improvements planned such as better printing, RSS feed integration, and tabbed browsing can now be seen, it isn’t yet the polished product many had hoped it would be. Common problems with the current release of IE 7.0 include the accidental display of missing image icons, misaligned backgrounds and borders, and in some cases entire pages appearing without any body content at all. Microsoft has announced plans to push IE 7 out as a "high priority" update via the Automatic Updates feature in Windows XP within the next few weeks, meaning that many business and consumer computer users will be upgraded without fully understanding the changes the new browser brings. Consequently, businesses supported by e-commerce systems, web-based intranets or extranets, or who otherwise rely on their website to appear and function consistently should expect an increased volume of calls and emails from frustrated website users.
Beginning in mid October, Preation completed a detailed audit of its clients’ websites by manually visiting every page of each site and visually verifying the layout using Internet Explorer 7.0. Each issue was documented and a plan of action for completing the required changes was delivered to clients. "Our goal is to ensure that each client’s website continues to look and function the same within Internet Explorer 7.0 as it does within existing most commonly used browsers including Internet Explorer 6.0, Firefox, and Safari." said Neil Lancia, Senior Web Strategist for Preation. According to onestat.com, Microsoft’s Internet Explorer is used by 85.85% of the world’s web users. Mozilla’s Firefox remains in second place with 11.49% of global usage share.
"Over the last few months our team has had concerns about the new Internet Explorer 7.0 and its support for XHTML and CSS standards. We use these technologies to build websites with the greatest level of cross-browser compatibility." said Lynn Morehouse, Director of Creative Services for Preation. "We’re proud to announce today that we have already completed all approved updates in advance of the IE 7.0 automatic release, ensuring that our clients’ websites will make the transition seamlessly to the new browser version."
